Featured Customer for May!
Posted: 05/12/2012
The BERNINA Sewing Family spotlight for May 2012 is on two sisters, Abigail and B Western. Their family is military and the girls have traveled and lived in different countries. Abigail enjoys sewing clothing projects, stuffed animals and home decor items. She likes to have items around the home that she can say "I made this myself" rather than going out to buy. Mrs. Greta Clairbould ,a sewing extraordinaire and Abigail's violin teacher is a source of inspiration for Abigail. Everything Abigail has on display at the Beavercreek Bernina store, she made for herself. In addition to her interest in sewing she plays the violin, enjoys bird watching, tennis, cross country and most outdoor activities. Cooking and being a cat lover can be added to the list. Abigail has been sewing for about 1 year.
Younger sister, B, enjoys sewing squares of fabrics together into small quilts and making stuffed animals. She has a pet names Aussie that she likes to sew "stuff" for. B plays the violin and is involved in a local theater group. B aspires to gaining the skills needed to sew a large quilt.
*Note from Donna-I had the privilege of teaching these sisters in the Ready, Set, Sew, a sewing class for beginners this past January. They taught me a few things-fast food in Paris, France is made fresh!, there are horrific spiders in Australia and the people there are very, very nice. No better compliment can be given than to see someone else enjoying the same things you do.....thank you girls for the compliment..

John has been quilting for about 20 years and the quilts are available for purchase although he usually gives them away to needy families. Woodworking is another craft John enjoys and it allows him to be creative as well as work with his hands. John has 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He loves to attend Dragons games and he is very involved with Relay for Life.

Kathie Stachler is our featured BERNINA Sewing Center family member for February. Kathie has been quilting for 11 year and truly has become a master at the craft. She especially loves applique and scrappy piecing. Her favorite pastime is hand sewing and she states that she loves the surprise ending result of scrappy piecing. Included in this month's disply are 6 quilted pieces that were chosen for the different techniuqes, patterns and colors created for her to enjoy. Kathie has 3 children, 8 grandchildren and when she is not quilting she is in the garden. Customer Spotlight: Jerry Ryan
Posted: 01/15/2012
Jerry Ryan is our customer spotlight for the month of January in our Beavercreek store. At the tender age of 65, Jerry took up quilting and hasn't stopped. Even though he has only been quilting for less than 6 months he has already finished a queen size quilt! Jerry loves quilting and especially machine applique and his burning ambition is to learn how to use a long arm quilting machine. He has been married to his wife for 43 years and they have a son, 2 cats, 2 dogs and a grand kitty! He is especially interested in the precision aspect of quilting since he retired from the tool and die trade after many years.
